Enriching the Pilsen Community for over 33 Years

Fiesta del Sol came out of a five year struggle to get Benito Juarez H.S. in Pilsen. This common cause brought together our community on a common goal. No longer would the young people from our community be forced to cross over gang lines in fear just to continue their education. With this victory a celebration took place that which today is known as Fiesta del Sol After 35 years this community celebration now draws over a million people to the streets of Pilsen each summer. The Fiesta del Sol, now one of the three largest Latino Festivals nationwide, and is the only one run solely by volunteers.

What started off as a block partycelebration, has evolved into a nationally publicized event complete with corporate sponsorship. But unlike other festivals, Fiesta del Sol is alcohol and tobacco-free, and most importantly, it is till organized by members and leaders of the Pilsen community.
